Pathway to Melbourne for Current Students

I. Application Timeline

  • Semester 1 (commencing February): Applications close in November of the previous year.
  • Semester 2 (commencing July): Applications close in April of the same year.

Note: Late applications may be declined or cause delays in processing and visa approval.

Choose a course that aligns with your interests and career goals.

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program at Swinburne Vietnam.
  • Must demonstrate good academic standing and not be under “At Risk” status (academic warning) or disciplinary action.
  • Must meet Australian visa requirements.
  • Students can transfer at any point during their studies.

  • Students are advised to consult with the Academic Department regarding their international study plan before applying.
  • Recommendation: If you are pursuing International Business at Swinburne Vietnam, consider choosing Business Analytics at Swinburne Melbourne to maximize credit exemptions.

Academic Calendar:

  • Two semesters per year (February & September intakes).
  • Each semester lasts 4 months and requires enrollment in 4 units.

Scholarships:
All international students are automatically considered for scholarships:

  • GPA 60–69%: 15% scholarship.
  • GPA 70–79%: 20% scholarship.
  • GPA ≥80%: 30% scholarship.

Note: Scholarships awarded at Swinburne Vietnam cannot be transferred to Australia.

III. Preparing Application Documents (Soft Copies)

Complete the transfer application form and prepare a full application package.

Required documents:

  • Certified copy of National ID/ Citizen ID Card.
  • Certified copy of passport photo page (passport must be valid for at least 6 months after course completion).
  • Certified copy of Household Registration Book.
  • Financial evidence.
  • Evidence of previous visa(s) or refusal/cancellation letters (if applicable).

Financial Evidence – Provide one of the following:

  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover travel, living expenses, and tuition fees for 12 months for yourself, dependents, and any school-aged children.
  • OR proof that your spouse/parent is financially supporting you, with an annual income of at least AUD 60,000.

Students with a history of visa refusal to Australia or other countries, or from certain countries/regions, must submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP). For more on GTE requirements, [CLICK HERE].

IV. Online Application via Studylink Portal

StudentHQ will assist you in lodging your application online.

Steps:

  1. Accept your Letter of Offer and pay tuition fees at Swinburne Melbourne.
  2. StudentHQ will notify you of your application outcome.
  3. Complete the acceptance form and return it to StudentHQ.
  4. Pay the deposit as required in your offer letter. You may send the international transfer receipt (TT receipt) to StudentHQ for assistance in finalizing acceptance via Studylink.

Checklist when accepting your offer:

  • Completed Acceptance Form.
  • Proof of deposit payment (TT receipt).
  • Proof of OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) if self-arranged – must start at least 1 month before commencement and extend 3 months beyond completion, as per offer letter.

V. Receive Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

After acceptance, you will receive an electronic CoE from Swinburne Melbourne within 2–3 business days.

VI. Apply for Student Visa

Once the CoE is issued, the Transfer Office will support you in lodging your visa application.

In addition to tuition deposit and OSHC insurance, prepare:

  • Medical check-up fee: ~ VND 2,300,000 (~ AUD 135).
  • Visa application fee: ~ AUD 650+ (payable online by credit/debit card; additional currency conversion and international transaction fees apply).
  • Biometrics fee at VFS: ~ VND 500,000 (~ AUD 30).

VII. Pre-departure & Enrolment at Swinburne Melbourne

  • Attend Orientation: Typically held 1–2 months before classes begin at Swinburne Melbourne.
  • Course Enrolment:

– If your Letter of Offer is unconditional, you may proceed with enrollment after receiving your CoE and officially withdraw from Swinburne Vietnam.
– Swinburne Melbourne will notify you by email when enrollment opens.
