Swinburne Graduate Reaches International Milestones Right After University
While many of his peers were still searching for direction, Nguyen Minh Hoang – a Swinburne Vietnam alumnus had already made remarkable achievements. At the age of 22, he not only secured a senior position at one of the world’s leading companies but also won a prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship to pursue a dual master’s degree in France and Belgium.

From Classroom to Global Opportunities
During his undergraduate years at Swinburne Vietnam, Hoang showed relentless passion for technology. The modern learning environment allowed him to explore advanced fields such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data science. Real-world projects and guidance from international faculty sharpened his creativity and problem-solving skills.
By his final year, Hoang joined PwC Vietnam and quickly proved his capability. Shortly after graduation, he was promoted to Senior Cybersecurity Consultant – a milestone many young professionals aspire to.
Beyond Career Success
Despite his impressive position, Hoang never stopped learning. With the desire to expand his horizons, he pursued graduate studies abroad. His perseverance earned him the highly competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study in France and Belgium.
Adapting to a demanding curriculum and cultural differences was challenging, but the self-discipline and resilience he cultivated at Swinburne helped him thrive.
Advice for Future Students
Hoang emphasizes the importance of building a strong IT foundation and gaining hands-on experience. He encourages students to join CTF competitions, open-source projects, and professional conferences to stand out in the cybersecurity field.
“Never stop learning – technology is always changing. Success belongs to those who adapt and keep moving forward,” Hoang shares.

Swinburne Student Joins Big Four Firm Before Graduation
Tran Bao Huy, an IT student at Swinburne Vietnam, successfully secured a position at EY Vietnam as an IT Auditor – joining one of the world’s top Big Four firms – even before graduation.

From Campus to EY Vietnam
Swinburne’s internship program was the stepping stone that opened the door to EY. Through his lecturers’ recommendation, Huy applied for the highly competitive IT Audit role.
“EY has a rigorous recruitment process, but the solid IT knowledge and soft skills I developed at Swinburne gave me the confidence to pass each stage,” Huy recalls.
After completing his internship, Huy received a return offer – a full-time contract – marking both recognition of his abilities and the start of his professional journey.
Practical Knowledge Put into Action
Huy found the real-world relevance of his courses invaluable. Subjects like IT system management and data integrity testing directly supported his work at EY.
“What I learned wasn’t just theory – it became practical tools I use every day,” he says.
Studying in English at Swinburne also prepared him for an international work environment, where he regularly interacts with high-profile clients in Vietnam and abroad.

Huy describes EY Vietnam as dynamic and challenging, with opportunities to work on large-scale projects. Although the workload can be intense, especially during peak season, teamwork and professionalism keep him motivated.
Over the past year, he has contributed to major IT audit projects, ensuring systems meet global standards.
“The tight deadlines at Swinburne prepared me well for the fast-paced demands at EY. Teamwork and stress management skills I built at university became my biggest assets,” he adds.
Looking Ahead
Huy plans to continue advancing at EY while developing new expertise and expanding his professional network. His long-term goal is to gain experience in Europe to further challenge himself in a global context.
