Workshop: “Break the Gender Barrier”

Recently, Swinburne Vietnam Alliance Program (SVAP) has cooperated with Harmony of Gender to organize a workshop on gender equality with the theme “Break the Gender Barrier”. The event took place at SVAP in Danang location, attracting the attention of a large number of students. <img class="aligncenter" title="Workshop: "Break the Gender Barrier" 1" src="https://swinburne-vn.edu.vn/wp-content/uploads/01.jpeg" alt="thao-go-nhung-dinh-kien" width="2048" height="1037" /> The workshop is an activity in the project “Youths participate in addressing gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality in Vietnam” implemented by Harmony of Gender; aimed at raising awareness and enhancing the ability of young people to participate in addressing gender prejudices, contributing to the promotion of gender equality in Vietnam. The project is funded by the European Union (EU), coordinated by Oxfam, implemented by the Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development in Rural and Mountainous areas (CISDOMA) and in collaboration with the University of Danang. <img class="aligncenter" title="Workshop: "Break the Gender Barrier" 2" src="https://swinburne-vn.edu.vn/wp-content/uploads/02.jpeg" alt="thao-go-nhung-dinh-kien" width="2048" height="1221" /> Gender Equality is one of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, which aims to increase the rights and opportunities for women and girls. At the workshop, the guests also shared their personal experiences and discussed with students how to get rid of existing “prejudices”. Most of the guests agreed that changing gender stereotypes needs to start with themselves, from within the family, in order to bring people closer together, not by making them become warriors to “fight”. <img title="Workshop: "Break the Gender Barrier" 3" src="https://swinburne-vn.edu.vn/wp-content/uploads/336534332_516127937357330_3055779849540664078_n.jpg" alt="thao-go-nhung-dinh-kien" /> To read more details, please follow our article <a href="https://swinburne-vn.edu.vn/news/khuon-thi-kho-coi-thi-mo-workshop-thao-go-nhung-dinh-kien-gioi-trong-ban/">here</a>.
