Hanoi, September 2022 – DataStax, the real-time data company, has partnered with Swinburne Vietnam to help develop data and ICT curriculum, training, and certification modules that will cultivate Vietnam’s burgeoning tech talents. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place on the 6th of October.
The modules will equip students of Swinburne Vietnam with in-demand knowledge and skills relating to computer systems, web development, big data management, programming, and emerging technologies. The partnership aims to enhance the country’s ICT and big data ecosystem and advance the skills and employability of the future ICT workforce.
The joint academic program will include workshops, training courses, hackathons, and internship programs that are created by DataStax. At the same time, Swinburne Vietnam will issue DataStax certifications and expose students to DataStax’s solutions that will equip them for ICT-related careers.
“The partnership will provide an excellent springboard for Vietnamese students to become the driving force of Vietnam’s digitization initiatives,” said Dr Hoang Viet Ha – Director of Swinburne Vietnam. “With more and more economic sectors embracing digital technology, Vietnam is in a unique position to create a strong digital footprint that will advance our nation towards Industry 4.0.”

The initiative comes as Vietnam ranks first out of 154 countries according to the Global Cryptocurrency Adoption Index, indicating that its population has a strong appetite for digitalization. National authorities have also been keen to develop the country’s digital capabilities, announcing a national policy to advance AI research, development, and application.
These factors have also led DataStax to recognize the leading role that Vietnam is playing in the region’s digital transformation journey, announcing the celebration of Cassandra Day in Hanoi , in which Swinburne Vietnam is delighted to accompanion. The event will include workshops and talks that will benefit NoSQL and Apache Cassandra™ users, enthusiasts, and community members of every level. Hanoi will be DataStax’s first stop in the Asia Pacific region.
