The Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, has had over 25 years of partnerships and different projects with esteemed institutions, such as the University of Architecture in HCM city, the National Economics University, and most significantly, Swinburne Vietnam in Hanoi. And now, the opening of the new teaching location in Ho Chi Minh City marks a new milestone in the long-term partnership between Swinburne and FPT University, which also signifies the cordial and strategic relationship between Australia and Vietnam.
The Opening Ceremony was held on Feb. 22 with limited guests and international friends joining online. Ms. Julianne Cowley, Australia’s Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed her admiration about Swinburne’s staff efforts and innovations in the midst of “the new normal” with COVID: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming this iconic Australian education brand here in Ho Chi Minh City in a very different way – the right way for 2021, which is to be innovative, adapt, and pivot. I want to particularly acknowledge Swinburne for the work that they’ve done going forward here in Ho Chi Minh City, supporting online students and working hard to deliver quality Australian education in innovative ways that respond to the COVID situation.”
There are more than 70,000 alumni in Vietnam who have studied with Swinburne and other universities in Australia, which is a manifestation of Australia’s world-class education. Ms. Cowley also stated that with innovations and resilience of educators around the world, education could continue to flourish in new ways and working in new partnerships between Vietnam and Australia.
“I congratulate those who are behind this new innovative way of working and I want to wish you all the best of success. And I want to offer FPT Education and Swinburne University my warmest congratulations, our best wishes, and we look forward to this being a very successful and prosperous education partnership,” Ms. Cowley sent her warms regards to the ceremony.
