We are living in a transition period between the old and the new generations. Nowadays, the way that young adults understand their culture also changes along with contemporary society. Therefore, understanding the insights of GenZ play a significant role in sustaining and developing traditional values due to their impacts on the community.
In the transitioning journey, traditional customs and lifestyles are indispensable factors in Vietnamese culture. In its entire history, Vietnamese culture is the combination of local cultural values and external culture influenced by China, East and Southeast Asia, and Western countries. However, with the impact of foreign cultures, the traditional Vietnamese culture has been protected and sustained without assimilation. It comprises a series of unique customs and habits including worshiping ancestors, chewing betel, giving lucky money during the Tet holiday, etc. These traditional values are continuing along with the emergence of new cultures such as the Christmas holiday, hip-hop, trendy fashion, etc.
Swinburne Vietnam StudentHQ is pleased to announce the Intersection of Times Exhibition from 6th to 7th January 2023. This art exhibition aims to showcase the point of view of our students toward Vietnamese cultural interference from past to present. This is an opportunity for them to express their insight and reflect on the changes in Vietnamese society throughout history. To further educate our students to discuss, understand and appreciate our changes.
