Highlights of Swinburne Innovation Space’s Grand Opening
On July 15, 2021, Swinburne Vietnam introduced Innovation Space, a lab and incubation center with the goal to provide better training conditions for students. Located on 80 Duy Tan street, Cau Giay district, Hanoi, the center will be the place where academics and enterprises connect and for students to harness their skills to better prepare for the future workforce.
Collaborating with FPT Telecom and FPT Software, the center is to enrich students’ learning experiences in technology and entrepreneurship at Swinburne Vietnam. Students will have more opportunities to collaborate with leading tech companies to create game-changing innovations in the future.
Special guess joining Swinburne Innovation Space’s Grand Opening included Mr. Hoang Viet Anh, CEO of FPT Telecom, Mr. Le Hong Viet, CEO of FPT Smart Cloud, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, the Personnel Director of FPT software and Mr. Bill Damachis, Director of Transnational Education of Swinburne, Australia.
Change Maker has always been the center of Swinburne Vietnam’s teaching philosophy since the beginning of the institution: educating students to be willing to change for improvements in their study, lives and communities. The Innovation Space is also a part of Swinburne’s effort to provide top-notch equipment to support students’ learning. The center also shows Swinburne Vietnam’s commitment to the Moonshot plan to provide students with industry experiences and prepare for a high-tech future.
Mr. Hoang Viet Anh shared some thoughts on the potentials that this center may bring: “Innovation Space is not a new concept, and it has been implemented in universities around the world, so we are happy to witness the launching of Swinburne Innovation Space. Innovation Space will be an open environment for students to ‘play’ with new tech and create new products and solutions.”
“[This is] one of the most critical components for any university, and Swinburne is not [any different]. You have to be innovative to compete with others. I have a strong belief that Swinburne Vietnam can do that because you have strong support from Australia. And with the collaboration with FPT telecom and Smart Cloud today, the space right here will make a key difference for Swinburne Vietnam compared to other universities.”
Due to Covid 19, the event was held with limited guests and proper preventative measures to keep spectators safe. Swinburne Innovation Space is expected to fully operate and welcome students for the Summer semester.
